Lock an object in PowerPoint

If you lock an object in PowerPoint with PowerPack, that object cannot be moved, rotated or have its size changed anymore.

  1. Select one or more object(s) in your PowerPoint file
  2. Click on Lock under the Lock / Unlock button
  3. You will be asked if you want to first create a backup of your PowerPoint
  4. If you click on Yes a. The PowerPoint file is saved b. A backup is created c. Locks to the shapes are created d. The PowerPoint is opened again on the same slide you were on previously
  5. If you click on No a. The PowerPoint file is saved b. A backup won’t be created c. Locks to the shapes are created d. The PowerPoint is opened again on the same slide you were on previously
  6. If you click Cancel, the window is closed and nothing happens

Example of locking

In the below example we are locking two objects in place. Even when they are selected and dragged or rotated, they will not move. They are locked in place. Lock an Object

Unlock an object in PowerPoint

After you unlock a previously locked object it can be moved and rotated again.

  1. Select one or more object(s) in your PowerPoint file that have previously been locked
  2. Click on Unlock under the Lock / Unlock button
  3. You will be asked if you want to first create a backup of your PowerPoint
  4. If you click on Yes a. The PowerPoint file is saved b. A backup is created c. Locks to the shapes are created d. The PowerPoint is opened again on the same slide you were on previously
  5. If you click on No a. The PowerPoint file is saved b. A backup won’t be created c. Locks to the shapes are created d. The PowerPoint is opened again on the same slide you were on previously
  6. If you click Cancel, the window is closed and nothing happens
Lock an Object

Finally unlock all will go through the entire Presentation and unlock any previously locked items again.
